Did you know Molded Dimensions acquired Knuth Machine & Tool in 2014? The tool and die manufacturer was renamed KM Tooling and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Molded Dimensions. And is now a proud member of the Molded Dimensions Group.
Since 1960, KM Tooling has designed & manufactured precision rubber molds, cast polyurethane molds, cold forming dies and trim dies. They are an innovative resource for rubber molders, cast polyurethane molders, cold forgers, and die casting manufacturers. In addition, they provide custom, precision short-run machining services.
Improving Tooling Transfers & Lead Times
“When moving parts to a new supplier, the transfer of tooling can be a big hurdle to clear,” said Bobby Desai, Molded Dimensions VP of Sales. “Having an in-house resource has proven time and again to be extremely helpful in easing this transition.”
To increase its value to customers, Molded Dimensions Group continues to search for ways to improve the capabilities for KM Tooling. This includes the recent investment of a new DMC Live Tool Turning Center that’s ideal for medium-to-high volume turning work. This CNC machine’s live tooling, along with the LNS bar feeder, allows for quick setups on complex parts with faster production and shorter lead times.
Over 60 Years of Tool & Die Experience
In 1960, the mold and tool shop was started by Wilferd (Bill) Knuth in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, as a supplier to local rubber molding companies. To support the growing Midwest manufacturing sector, they relocated in 1984 to a larger, more functional space in Grafton, Wisconsin. The new site allowed them to expand its machining services and better serve the needs of its growing rubber and cast polyurethane mold customers. Molded Dimensions was one of those customers until the 2014 acquisition.
Today, Molded Dimensions and KM Tooling still work closely as part of the Molded Dimensions Group. They team with GlobalTech Plastics and PCO Urethane to be the premier provider of custom parts for companies seeking reliability, versatility and a strategic approach from a manufacturer and supplier.
