Molded Dimensions Group proudly holds a distinctive marketplace position, due in large part to our deep and varied expertise in the production and procurement of rubber, plastics, and urethane. Combined with our exceptional customer service, we have become an optimal partner for companies in a wide range of industries, including the water and water treatment industry.

Recently, we were honored to develop one such successful partnership with a global water technology provider based in Washington, D.C. Featuring a large portfolio of systems and products designed to effectively handle the complexities of water and wastewater treatment, the company helps its customers solve water challenges across varying worldwide markets.

Molded Dimensions Group had built a strong relationship with this company, as we had been manufacturing urethane and rubber parts for it at our facility in Port Washington, WI. When given limited notice that its existing plastics supplier, located in Mexico, was no longer able to manufacture its plastic components, the company reached out to us. Impressed by our performance in producing other parts, the company was now looking to our Fife, WA location for a time-sensitive solution for its plastic molding needs.

Unique to this tool transfer was its considerable volume: the company needed over 50 parts to be produced. When it received the molds from its previous supplier, team members from Molded Dimensions Group visited the company’s facility to conduct inspections and determine feasibility of production. From that point on, we held weekly priority meetings with the customer to provide updates, discuss changing priorities, and answer questions.

Most components transferred to us were parts for water filtration systems, like housings, clamps, bodies, spray components, and more. Size-wise, some parts were large, needing our 1100-ton press, and some parts were smaller than a grape.

Many parts had different resin types, and a number also required interchangeable insert sets for a universal mold base—both challenges we were pleased to conquer. And in addition to pre-existing molds, Molded Dimensions Group was also able to create a handful of new molds as well, for pieces that were either missing elements or incompatible with our setup.

Overall, the company was extremely pleased with the results of this tool transfer, praising Molded Dimensions Group several times for the smooth progression of the project. Company representatives and our employees gave a full team effort in quickly getting the parts molded, tested, and into production.

Brad Raker, Senior Design Engineer at Molded Dimensions Group, extensively supported this project. He shares, “[The company] has received internal comments from employees who put the filtration systems together that the cosmetics are better and that parts are more sophisticated, with better quality. We exceeded their expectations completely.” The company has even requested additional tool transfer quotes, and some new project quotes, too.

Molded Dimensions Group was excited to put our core values into action for the successful completion of this project. Through collaboration and passion, we found a better way of doing things for the customer, wowing them in the process. We were able to make the difficult part easy—and we’d love to do the same for you. Start a conversation with us today.
